A dimunitive form of either Christian or Christopher. Originally a Fife name, the family seems to have drifted north to Aberdeen and in time west up the River Dee into land of Clan Farquharson. A prominant member of the family was a James Christie, servitor to Alexander Farquharson of Invercauld. Mr Christie witnessed a a bill of transaction between Mr Robert Farquharson and William Farquharson of Inverey.
