Out of respect for Andrew Wood, presumabley the Volunteer Wood of Allardie of the Forfarshire (Ogilvie's) Regiment under Prince Charles Edward Stuart, who, with Francis Farquharson of Monaltrie, awaited death by hanging for their part in the Jacobite Rebellion in 1746. It is said the before his death Wood raised a glass and drank to the health of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. Mr. Wood was put to death minutes before Monaltrie was given a pardon and sentenced to remain in an English jail. Monaltrie was released in 1766 and never forgot the kindness of Andrew Wood and neither will Clan Farquharson. So out of respect for his sacrifices and his courage he showed to Monaltrie the Wood damily is welcomed into the Clan Farquharson.
